Miami Airport Terminal Map

Complete Horseshoe Layout: North, Central, and South Terminal Gates, Skytrain Stations, and Inter-Concourse Walkways
Navigating Miami International Airport (MIA) is straightforward once you understand its continuous semicircular horseshoe layout across three primary terminal zones: North Terminal (Concourse D), Central Terminal (Concourses E, F, and G), and South Terminal (Concourses H and J). Spanning three operational levels, the facility separates ground transportation and baggage collection on Level 1, airline ticketing check-in and TSA security checkpoints on Level 2, and pedestrian moving walkway skybridges on Level 3. Understanding how each concourse branches outward from the central hub helps travelers locate their departure gates, baggage carousels, and ground connections without unnecessary backtracking.
Key Terminal Gate Zones & Concourse Distribution
MIA hosts more than 130 active aircraft gates distributed across distinct airline alliances and terminal sectors:
- North Terminal (Concourse D, Gates D1–D60): The primary operational hub for American Airlines domestic and international flights, featuring four automated MIA Skytrain stations along the roofline for rapid concourse transit.
- Central Terminal (Concourses E, F & G): Accommodates select oneworld partners (British Airways, Iberia), international charter services, and low-cost domestic carriers with direct landside access to the on-site Miami International Airport Hotel.
- South Terminal (Concourses H & J, Gates H1–H20 & J1–J18): Operates as the international gateway for SkyTeam and Star Alliance carriers, housing Delta Air Lines, LATAM, Lufthansa, United Airlines, and Virgin Atlantic.
- Level 3 Moving Walkway Skyride: Climate-controlled pedestrian moving walkways connecting all terminals pre-security, leading directly to the automated MIA Mover train for car rentals and Metrorail transit.
Passengers transferring between flights should note that Concourse D and Concourse E share a sterile post-security connector near Gate D17, allowing travelers to change gates without reclearing TSA screening. Similarly, South Terminal Concourses H and J are interconnected airside between Gates H4 and J1. However, moving between North/Central and South terminals requires exiting to the public landside lobby on Level 3, walking to the destination concourse, and passing through a TSA security checkpoint. Always budget at least 90 minutes for inter-terminal domestic connections and two to three hours for arriving international itineraries.
